The Tiki Collective will perform Saturday, September 2018 for guests and friends at El Gordo’s in Kensington Market. Set time is 3pm-4pm.
Bob Reid and Blair Packham (acclaimed singer-songwriter, producer, music educator and former leader of The Jitters) bring you a wide variety of guests from all aspects of the world of music.
Outrageously good reading and music, up close, just the right proportions. Tell your favourites.
What to expect
A reading, some music, a break, a reading. Everyone gets 20 minutes. The crowd is supportive and friendly, curious, engaged. You will probably make a new good friend. This month featuring: MALCOLM GILDERDALE is a writer and sometime musician who is very surprised to be so old. He works at TIFF doing digital things, but secretly he is a bit of a Luddite. MALCOLM will read for us. [https://www.instagram.com/latewords/] TYRA JUTAI is a singer-songwriter in Toronto. My favourite description of TYRA is "Monroe meets Winehouse? Baby Holiday? The Love child of Jessica Rabbit and Tom Waits?" (overheard deep into the night at the Horseshoe Tavern). TYRA will play for us. [https://www.tyrajutai.com/] PUNEET DUTT is a poet based in Toronto. She's published and presented a staggering amount, and teaches other writers how to do the same. PUNEET will read for us. [https://puneetdutt.com/]
Why is this happening?
Since 2013, AMAZING NEW STUFF has been showcasing writers and musicians in Toronto. We specialize in creators that are outrageously talented but not that easy to find in small venues. The most common reaction people have to the show is "I can't believe I got to be there." Come join us!
